Sinister (Crap title)

This was my piece for my English composition exam almost 10 years ago (Wowzers, how time literally teleports!). I think the theme was "A memory that haunts you to this day" or something like that. It's not the best, but it was what I could manage in an hour. I struggle to comprehend how I could have achieved this feat, as it takes me at least thrice the amount of time to complete one essay now.
I have left it as it is, with only minor edits to paragraphing and grammar.

~~~
Adelle, Kaine and I were the best of friends. Everything that we did, we did it together. There was not a single secret amongst us, and it wouldn’t be surprising if we were siblings in our past life.
One day, we decided to go on a road trip after our examinations. We joked and laughed throughout the journey, but our fun came to an abrupt halt when the car suddenly broke down. “Just our luck to be stranded in the middle of nowhere with a dead engine,” Kaine sighed.
“Are you sure we’re lost?” I asked, searching through a map. “Even if we’re not lost, how are we supposed to get out of here with a car that refuses to budge?” Adelle muttered dully. I started to speak when we heard a rumbling noise.
A moment later, a truck stopped beside us. The driver poked his head out of the window and called out, “What are you kids doing out here?” We explained our situation to him, and were filled with relief when he offered to let us spend the night in his home not far from where we were.
“It’s dangerous for you three to wander out here after dark. There are a lot of wild animals roaming about,” Mr. Hanks, the driver, explained. That’s weird…was it just me, or was Mr. Hanks’ eyes glinting as he spoke? My friends didn’t seem to notice anything, so I just brushed the thought aside.
“Here we are, kids,” Mr. Hanks announced 10 minutes later. His house was not exactly big, and the inside was a little messy, but we were thankful to have a place to spend the night. We had canned food for dinner, but since I wasn’t hungry, I gave my share to Adelle, who was starving.
I woke up in the middle of the night and could not go back to sleep. Suddenly, I heard sounds from Mr. Hanks’ room. It sounded…inhuman, like that of a wild beast. But somehow, it also sounded pitiful. I turned to see if my friends were awake, and panicked for a moment when I did not see them.
‘Relax, they probably went out to get some air or something,’ I assured myself. When they were nowhere in sight after 20 minutes or so, I decided to look for them, but to no avail. The only place I hadn’t searched was Mr. Hanks’ room – the source of the sound. Although it seemed wrong, my instinct told me to search there.
Slowly but steadily, I pushed the door open.
Empty.
There was no one in sight, not even Mr. Hanks. I was about to go out when I heard the inhuman sound again, and it was coming from directly beneath me!
After casting another quick glance around the room, I noticed a hole on the tiled ground. On closer inspection, it turned out to be a staircase leading to the basement. Taking a deep breath, I went down.
I could not believe my eyes when I saw what was in the basement. It appeared to be some sort of laboratory filled with caged animals. Horrorstruck yet awed, I peered into one of the cages.
Terror filled every inch of my body when I realized that it was no ordinary animal. It was half human, half animal – a chimera! And the face of the chimera I was staring at was none other than Kaine’s! Apparently Mr. Hanks was a mad scientist. Kaine and Adelle had unfortunately become experiments of his twisted mind.
“Help… me…” he whispered, but it sounded more like a growl instead. His onyx black eyes bore into mine, filled with sorrow.
“I… I’m sorry, I can’t,” I stammered and fled out of the basement and out of the house. Mr. Hanks’ truck was nowhere in sight, so I ran. I ran and I ran until I reached the very spot where our car had broken down.
Yanking the car door open, I slid in behind the steering wheel and started the ignition. Miraculously, the engine started and I raced back home. I reported the incident to the police, but they could not find the basement. No one really believed my story.
I have been living with the guilt of leaving Kaine and Adelle behind for years. But no one can really blame me. There was nothing I could have done, and I was just protecting my life, right?
5 min drabble
Theme is 'vampires' set by my friend. I don't know writing anymore Orz
~~~~~
Trapped. By a very gorgeous man. But I know it is just a mask. For underneath that alluring features lies a face of evil incarnate. I shut my eyes, prepared for the worst. It is better to just give in... A tickle of cold breath on the nape of my neck. It is coming. God forgive me for my sins. Icy cold flesh on flesh. It tingles for a moment and not a second later, a piercing shriek reached my eardrums. I look down at the writhing, bloody sack of meat slowly unraveling miserably before my eyes and smiled in satisfaction.  When will they ever learn?

In case it was confusing the MC is a vampire hunter? 8D;;;;

Update on kimono boi

Yeah so I did manage to write something on it and somehow it turned into a full fledged idea for an ongoing story. But being the idiot that I am I wrote out the first chapter without filling out character sheets beforehand. And now I'm screwed because I still don't have a clear picture of character development. So I'm probably going to rewrite the whole thing. I'll try to post something up to substitute this piece soon.

Mirror Mirror

My friend and I have been giving each other "beginning/ending with" sentences to motivate ourselves to go back to writing (good God there are far too many "to"s in one sentence) and here it is. This piece actually has quite a bit of significance to me, personally.
_______

My breath caught in my chest as I stood in front of my ful-length mirror, or whatever was left of it.

Shattered.

Fragments of the mirror lay scattered on the floor, and I stared in disbelief and horror at the damage for a few silent moments before dropping to my knees, frantically gathering the pieces in my hands.

"No... not my precious... who would've done such a horrid thing?" I muttered to myself, ignoring the shards that cut into my flesh. All that I could think of was that I had to collect every single fragment... and then what? Pray that it could be restored? Somewhere in the distance, I thought I heard a bell chime, but it was soon put out of my mind.

Soon enough, I managed to collect all the pieces. Had I been more focused, I would've realised that though my hands and fingers were covered with blood from the cuts, not one single shard had a speck of blood on it. In fact, there was a slightly reddish hue to them, almost as though they soaked up my blood like a sponge.

"Please, oh please oh please..." I chanted, praying against all odds as I tried to piece them back together. It has to work, it just has to! What would I do if I never get to see Him again? No, that just cannot happen. I musn't think like that! The faint sound of a bell chiming reached my ears for a second time, though like the first, I paid no heed to it and continued with my task.

It was rather daunting, but I managed to fully reassemble my mirror after an hour or so. Good, even the tiny shards are in place. Satisfied, yet sick with anticipation, I turned to face It like I always have, every single day without fail, for the past ten years. Cracks marred the smooth surface, but I hope He wouldn't mind. Well, here goes.

"Ren, are you there? Can you hear me? Please, I beg of you, please appear before me," I pleaded with a note of desperation in my voice.

Silence.

Tears threatened to spill from my eyes when it happened - a bell chimed for the third time, bringing along with it a gust of wind. Or was it the wind that carried the sound? In any case, the surface of the mirror in front of me began to flicker, and a male figure started to materialize.

My heart leapt with joy, but it was a moment too soon. Instead of the face I was expecting, I found myself looking at darkness. Literally darkness. The figure that appeared never took on a definitive form like it always did, but remained a shadow.

"Ren? It is you, isn't it? What's the matter? Why haven't you taken form?" I asked with a sense of panic.

Slowly, a blood red gash appeared on the shadow's face, resembling a mouth, and cracked into a grin. I was spooked, but stood my ground, unflinching. Seeming to take my stance as a positive sign, the shadow took a step forward, still grinning.

"Aki..." said the figure, arms outstretched. That's it! That's the unmistakable voice I know, the same voice that comforted me through all my lonely and painful days.

"Ren!" I reached out my hand to him, and miraculously, as the distance between us closed, his hand penetrated through the glass, and for the first time in ten years, we touched.

As Ren fully stepped out of the mirror, he pulled me into a tight embrace, and I relished in the feeling. Ah.... how I've dreamt of this moment. After a decade of waiting.... finally, all my dreams and prayers have been answered. But then...

"Ren, why are you still a shadow?"

"Does it bother you so?" he asked.

""Not really, but... it's just..."

"Creepy?" he voiced out my exact thoughts, though I remained quiet. "Would you love me any less if I remained this way forever?"

"No!" I protested. "Just... I just want to know what's going on..."

"Aki," he stepped away from our embrace and cupped my face in his hands instead, making me look at his featureless face, save for that red gash of a grin. "This has always been me. What you saw, the features you thought to be mine, was nothing more than your imagination. I am but your mirrored self, the part you've always kept secret, the true self you tried desperately to hide from the world. I am you, as you are me."

I gasped, my eyes widening in shock. "This..."

"How else could we possibly be bonded this way, my fair self? Haven't you  ever wondered how I've always seemed to know your exact thoughts, your exact emotions?" he caressed my cheek lovingly, the grin never leaving his 'face'.

"I....." what Ren said made sense, and yet, "But I love you so much, how-"

"As I love you, Aki. Does it make any difference knowing that the one person you love the most is yourself? Two sides of the same coin, the dark reflection of thy fair self, one split into two, two existing as one." Ren slowly brought his face closer to mine, and I stared at the red gash, hypnotized.
"We are one, and we shall reunite where we belong..." Without realising it, those words left my lips as Ren completed the distance between us, our mouths pressing together, like the Ouroboros.

~

Invisible to everyone, a figure looked on and sighed. A charred patch was left in place of Suzushii Aki, the mirror looking as though it never shattered. "Looks like this is another failure. Who will be the one who breaks the curse?"

With a swish of his cloak, the figure disappeared into the night sky, leaving behind the chime of bells resonating in the air.

Have a (random) poem!

Tendrils of sorrow
Essence of hate
Let us now converge on evil's gate

Feelings of despair
Sadness and grief
Give up for there's nothing to achieve

Broken promises
Nothing but lies
No trace of remorse in your cold eyes

Unable to stand
Now it all ends
Buried underneath the white hot sands

||5-4-9 syllable format, 2nd and 3rd lines rhyme. Idk what type of poetry this is lol||

Surprise post hello!

Yes, hello again after 7 and a half years! How time flies, eh? I haven't been doing much writing in these years, regrettably, and my inspiration has suffered greatly. I really should get back to it. I am but a shadow of my former self, a ghost wandering aimlessly amidst the living. Unable to live, yet unable to die, I pray for the day where I can finally rest in peace.

Okay that was random =w= But seriously I should start writing once more. It has been far too long.

Disturbia

Since October is symbolic for Halloween, I have decided to post up stuff related to the darker side for this whole month <3 And since I'm feeling rather bored again (exhausted, actually, but oh well) I'm posting up another random work. This time, it's yet another short story. Enjoy, little ghosties and ghoulies <3

~~~~~
Tick, tock, tick, tock, came the ticking of the clock, overlapped by the sounds of bells chiming. A young lady crouched in the corner of the kitchen, clamping her palms over her ears., shivering. "Stop it..... make it stop..... make it go away...." she whispered to no-one in particular.
Sounds of something being dragged started to approach her from the opposite side of the room, and the lady jerked involuntarily, stifling a sob. "Please, don't come closer.......go away!" Ignoring her pleas, the sound became gradually louder as it slowly, yet steadily approached her. In the sliver of moonlight shining through the window, a pale arm slowly emerged, followed by another arm. Upon seeing it, the woman shut her eyes tightly.
"Disappear, disappear, hurry up and disappear, disappear..." she chanted to herself, only to be ignored once again. Suddenly, after a final thud, the dragging sounds stopped. Still sobbing softly, and unable to contain her curiosity, the woman slowly opened her eyes.
She regretted it almost instantaneously.
Right in front of her was a sprawled figure of a woman in a long ultramarine dress with long, wavy blonde hair, looking up at her. There was only one problem with its features - it didn't have any, except for a slit of a mouth forever etched in a menacing smirk.
The woman instinctively brought her palms to her cheeks, clutching at it, her eyes horror-stricken. She wanted to scream, but her voice seemed to fail her.
The figure on the floor slowly reached a pale, bony hand up to the woman's face. "Yu....mi....." it called out in a dry, raspy voice.
Yumi shrank back, her efforts futile as she had her back firmly pressed against the wall. Shivering, she never took her sight off the hand, until it touched her cheek. A chill crept down her spine upon contact - it was freezing cold, as cold as death. Yumi shut her eyes again as the figure started caressing her cheek.
"Yu...mi.... it... has been..... a long.... time...."
"What do you want?!" sobbed Yumi.
"Is that.... the way..... you.... greet... and old friend?"
Caress, Caress.
"STOP IT!"
"How can... you... say that? You.... should be happy... I still.... love you so much... even after everything... you did..." it continued caressing Yumi.
"It's not... that's not true!! WHAT DO YOU WANT?!" Yumi shrieked.
This time, the figure started to rise, holding out another hand to Yumi's face, and held it tightly between its hands.
"You owe me... remember that... you owe me," said the figure with a noticeably stronger tone. "I am just here to claim what is rightfully mine. In other words, your life," At this, it brought its 'face' up close to Yumi's, it's 'mouth' directly in front of her eyes.
"I don't understand... what do you mean?" Yumi gulped.
"Oh, you very well know what I mean, Yumi-chan," a giggle. "You are the very reason I am what I am today."
"No, no no, that's not true!"
"Really? Let me tell you a story, and tell me if it sounds familiar to you. One night, a pair of friends were heading out for a Halloween party. One of them was jealous of the other, as her crush had invited to the party not her, but her friend. So she decided to take matters into her own hands. She lured her friend to an old house, convincing her that it would be exciting to explore the house before attending the party, and they'd be able to boast about their courage later. Though skeptical, her friend relented. Once there, she pushed her friend into a room and locked her in it, ignoring her desperate cries for help."
"That was an accident I swear!" shrieked Yumi, almost in hysterics.
"I don't know for sure, but perhaps the girl meant to let her friend out the next day, but when she got there, she found a body sprawled on the floor in a room filled with snakes, bitten to death," the figure went on as though it hadn't been interrupted.
"I didn't mean for it to happen.................." Yumi said softly, getting limp.
"There, there, poor little Yumi, getting all upset. Someone needs a hug." the figure embraced her, and she made no attempts to break free. The figure started chanting a mantra, and Yumi started to close her eyes slowly.
As the first rays of the sun started to shine, Takeda Yumi rose, the ghastly figure nowhere to be seen. With her head bowed down, a smile began to form on her lips, and she held her hands out in front of her, looking at it with glee.
"Ahh... it feels so good to be alive again."
~~~~~~

There you go! This took approximately an hour to complete x_X I think I'm better off at typing away at the computer rather than drafting it out on paper first O.o Goodness, I'm changing O.o
I hope you understand this story ^^;;;;;;; Again, kindly pardon any typos/grammatical errors/redundancy >o<
In case you didn't get it, the figure possessed Yumi at the very end.

Sweet Sacrifice

I'm supposed to be posting 'Disturbia', but since I haven't completed it yet (oh yes, how typical of me) I've decided to post up a... random filler? Don't mind the title. As the same case as this story, it's completely random XP;;

~~~
Footsteps. Behind her. That was the only sound that Emily Mason could hear apart from the soft tap tap of her feet. Turning her head ever so slightly, she continued walking on, though at a brisker pace.
Tap tap tap.
Those footsteps behind her was in tune to her own. Shutting her eyes tightly, she broke into a trot, her breath coming in irregular pants.
"Please, oh please just go away. Leave me alone!" she prayed silently. Suddenly, she heard the unmistakable sound of a penknife being unsheathed.
"No!" sobbed Emily, who ran for her very life. Within seconds, however, she felt a hand clamp over her left shoulder. Unable to keep her curiosity at bay any longer, she spun around, and let out an audible gasp as she finally came face to face with her predator.
"Mommy, what's wrong?"
"Anna! It's only you. Thank God! You scared me half to death! What were you doing following me and keeping quiet, eh? And what are you doing here? I know today's Halloween, but why aren't you with your friends? Where are they? You shouldn't wander around alone, especially in a half deserted street like this!" Emily breathed a sigh of relief as she realised that it was just her 12-year-old daughter.
"I'm sorry, mommy, I didn't mean to scare you. I saw you when I was on the way back home, and decided to follow you", Anna looked up at her mother with an innocent look.
Emily looked back at her daughter and smiled. "Anyway, I'm glad that we're both safe. Come here and give mommy a hug." She spread out her arms, and her daughter leaned in close, returning her embrace.
Suddenly, Emily gasped. There was a sharp, stabbing pain in her abdomen. Clutching the wounded spot with her right hand, she staggered backward.
There was a knife protruding from her stomach.
"Anna... you... what have you done?" she wheezed, staring at her daughter in horror.
The child just plastered a smile on her face, and the clouds overhead partially shrouded the moon, casting her a menacing look. "Mommy... I've missed you so much. I've waited for so long, and now, we can finally be together again!"
"What are you... talking about?" Emily said weakly, as her blood continued flowing from the open wound.
"Don't worry, death isn't all that scary. I'll guide you when we get there, I promise!" Anna knelt down beside her mother and cradled her in her arms, stroking her face."I love you, mommy." Emily could do nothing but stare in horror at her only child, until the very last of her life essence was drained out of her.
As the clock tower chimed 12, the figure of a 12-year-old girl started to vanish, leaving only the remains of a young woman behind. To eyes that can't see, a child and her mother held hands, looking at a certain spot some distance away. A dark vortex materialised at said spot, and both looked at each other before walking into it, venturing into a different world.
~~~

There! Okay so it's weird I know. In case you didn't get it, Anna has been dead for some time, and Emily was just living in denial that she's still alive, so in a way she has been 'imagining' her daughter all along? And err... Anna killed her mom so that they can be reunited in the other world =.= I told you it was random -_- But rest assured that this isn't the piece for 'Disturbia', just a totally random short fic I decided to type at the spur of the moment hoho. I worked out the plot as I typed so please excuse me if it didn't make much (any?) sense. And please excuse any typos/grammatical errors ^^
